Student and Employability Support Office
This is a space for personalized attention, whose services serve the purpose of supporting students:
- In the welcome and integration in ISTEC;
- To define and pursue academic goals;
- To overcome difficulties;
- In the process of transition and integration into the labor market.
Mission
SESO’s mission is, above all, to contribute so that each ISTEC student feels comfortable in this institution of higher education, as well as to feel integrated and supported in his academic and professional path.
SESO is centered, fundamentally, in two main areas:
Students
Contributing to their reception and integration, promoting their development along the academic and/or professional path through individual counseling to support decisions/choices, updating study methodologies and personal development.
Employability
Promoting close interaction with the labor market to which ISTEC graduates are destined, getting to know it and promoting the institution and future professionals, and fostering professional development in order to contribute to the employability/entrepreneurship of our graduates and to facilitate their transition into the labor market.
Strategic Objectives
- Individualized support to decisions/choices (along) the academic and/or professional path;
- Support in the active job search process, in the elaboration of an effective Curriculum Vitae and Cover Letter/Motivation/Spontaneous Application and preparation for job/internship interviews;
- Establishment of partnerships and collaboration protocols with companies/institutions;
- Sourcing Curricular and/or Professional Internships for students from companies/institutions;
- Preparation of students for the challenges associated with professional integration;
- Entrepreneurship – Dissemination of active employment policies, support for young entrepreneurs and the Portugal Empreende project;
- Social Support – Personalized service to students in the scope of debt reduction;
- Dissemination of job offers and relevant information for insertion in the labor market to students and graduates.
Employability Area
In the employability/entrepreneurship space, ISTEC students and graduates can find support in exploring and building professional and "life" projects and in issues related to active job/self-employment search.
Services available in the employability/entrepreneurship space:

Job Fair | ISTEC Lisbon
Every year, the Instituto Superior de Tecnologias Avançadas de Lisboa organizes the ISTEC Job Fair.
With this event, it is intended that several of our partner companies get to know our students and teachers and, at the same time, that our entire community gets to know the companies we work closely with in the most diverse situations. Whether it is students going for an internship, students intending to enter the labor market or those who already have their professional career well underway but are interested in learning about new opportunities or simply finding out more about what is going on in the area, all ISTEC Lisbon members are welcome and can only gain by attending the ISTEC Job Fair.
At the end of November 2022 we brought all our academic community together again with several partner companies. In this post-pandemic return, more than 30 companies were present, represented by more than 70 IT and Human Resources employees, among which were several current and former students of ISTEC Lisbon.
